Essential knowledge

Three rakeback truths every grinder should know

What is rake?

The fee a poker room takes from each pot or tournament entry. Typically 3–5% of the pot, capped at 1–3 big blinds. It's how the room makes money — and where your edge gets eroded.

What is rakeback?

A percentage of the rake you've paid, returned to you. If you pay $1,000 in rake per month and your deal is 35%, you get $350 back. Simple.

Why rooms pay it back

Rakeback is a customer-acquisition cost. Rooms pay affiliates to bring high-volume players. We negotiate the largest portion of that fee back to you instead of keeping it.

Direct, weighted, dealt — knowing the difference matters

Contributed

You only pay rake when you put money in the pot. Best for tight regs.

Dealt

Rake split across every player dealt in. Worst for nits, best for loose players.

Weighted-contributed

Rake split proportional to contribution. The fairest model — used by GGPoker.

Flat

Same % returned regardless of volume. Best for occasional grinders.

Progressive

Higher % unlocked at higher tiers. Best for high-volume regs.

Hybrid

Combination of base + tier bonuses + race rewards. Most rooms use this.

Beyond the public price tag

Some deals don't have a public price tag.

For high-volume players (200,000+ hands/month or $5,000+ in monthly rake), we negotiate VIP rakeback that beats every public offer. Open the chat — a deal specialist will quote you in 12 minutes.

Rakeback FAQ

Is 100% rakeback legit?

Pure 100% rakeback offers usually mean the room is paying its entire affiliate fee back — sustainable only at very high volume tiers, and almost always paired with a heavy rake structure. Look at the effective rake-after-rakeback, not the headline %.

Can I lose my rakeback if I stop playing?

Some rooms reset tier progress monthly or quarterly. Others (like GGPoker's Fish Buffet) preserve your tier permanently once earned. We mark this on every review.

How do I know my rakeback was paid correctly?

PokerWix tracks every hand of rake on partner rooms. Your dashboard shows expected vs paid by month. If the room underpays, our guarantee covers the difference.

Do bonuses count as rakeback?

No. A bonus is a one-time release as you clear it. Rakeback is ongoing. The two stack — you can clear a welcome bonus AND collect rakeback on the same hands.
