Our commitment
PokerWix is an affiliate and rakeback platform — we do not operate poker rooms directly. Every operator we recommend holds a licence from a recognised gambling authority (Curaçao eGaming, Anjouan, Kahnawake, Malta MGA) and is contractually required to offer player-protection tools including deposit limits, self-exclusion, and underage-gambling controls.
We refuse to work with operators that do not meet our responsible gambling standards, and we include responsible-gambling ratings in our room reviews.
Signs of problem gambling
Gambling becomes a problem when it negatively affects your finances, relationships, mental health, or work. Common warning signs include:
- !Spending more than you can afford to lose
- !Chasing losses — betting more to win back what you've lost
- !Gambling to escape stress, anxiety, or depression
- !Lying to family or friends about how much you gamble
- !Neglecting work, study, or relationships because of gambling
- !Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling
- !Feeling restless or irritable when trying to cut down
- !Failed attempts to control, cut back, or stop gambling
If you recognise several of these in yourself or someone close to you, please reach out to one of the support organisations listed below.
Player-protection tools
Responsible operators offer a range of tools to help you stay in control. You can typically find these in the operator's account settings, labelled "Responsible Gambling", "Player Protection", or "My Limits".
Deposit limits
Set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap on how much you can deposit at any operator. Once set, reductions take effect immediately; increases have a mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period.
Loss limits
Cap the total amount you can lose in a given period. Reaching the limit freezes your account for the rest of that period — you can still withdraw, but cannot play.
Session time limits
Limit each playing session to a fixed duration. Many operators will log you out automatically and show you a session-time summary before you re-enter.
Reality checks
An on-screen reminder at set intervals (e.g. every 30 min) showing how long you've been playing and your net result for the session.
Cool-off / take-a-break
A short voluntary suspension — 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days — during which you cannot log in. Useful for resetting habits without committing to a long exclusion.
Self-exclusion
A formal request to be blocked from all gambling activity at an operator for a minimum period (usually 6 months to 5 years). In many jurisdictions, self-exclusion carries across multiple operators via national registers such as GAMSTOP (UK).
Quick self-assessment
Answer honestly: Do you gamble with money you need for essential expenses? Have you ever lied about the amount you gamble? Do you feel an urge to keep playing after a loss? Do you feel anxious or irritable when you stop?
If you answered yes to any of these, consider speaking to a professional. A full validated screening tool (PGSI) is available free at BeGambleAware.org.
Underage gambling
All poker operators we recommend enforce a minimum age of 18 (or the legal age of the player's jurisdiction, whichever is higher). Age verification is required before any withdrawal and — at most operators — before first deposit.
If you share a computer with young people, we encourage you to use parental control software such as GamBlock or BetFilter to restrict access to gambling sites at the device level.
